Oriented Wood Plastic Composites (o-WPC’s) are materials which are manufactured by a patented manufacturing process that produce linear shapes (Rectangular, Round or Irregular) that have extremely high structural properties that exceed those of lumber, and which can often compete with steel, as in the case of pedestrian bridges. The material is a composite of recycled wood in the form of wood powder (30% ±) and polyproprolyne (70% ±). The enhanced qualities are attained by the elongation and lineation of the molecules in the patented orientation process. Specific charecteristics can be achieved by varying the ratio of the Wood Powder to PP content to suit the end users requirements. The material will not rot or mildew, is resistant to most harsh chemicals, is more durable than lumber, is up to 3 times stronger than lumber and can be machined in all manners just like lumber. Applications where this material can be utilized are in places where lumber would require periodic maintenance or replacement or where breakage is a factor, while having a specific gravity of .6 and the appearance, colour and texture of Lumber, if required. In addition, existing wood profiles can be reduced in size, due to the enhanced structural properties, that generate benefits of easier handing, reduced inventory space, extended product longevity and lower overall weight of the final product. |
